    Default Classic Escort SN 10,011

Hope that there is an Cincinnati Microwave Expert on the forum.

Have one with Serial Number 10,011. Has the pigtail electrical cord intact.

Came in the custom foam box - prior to the plastic cases and the visor clip is a
    "rough" extrusion and no markings.

Any idea of year of manufacture - the Escort is a year or so older than the visor clip
(no factory visor mounting was available initially).

What Serial Number did Escort start production units?

    Thanks

They started sellimg them mid-1978, but only sold a few hundred a month until Car & Driver tested them in February 1979, and sales exploded after that. I'm pretty sure they started the Serial Numbers at 1 (or close to it). So, I would place it in 1979.

The serial number of the first Escort was 1016, as I recall. Some of the first 15 stickers were used by employees, including, of course, Jaeger and Valentine. The very-early stickers were shiny silver foil, with stamped numbers.

Here's an ad we did to build credibility in the truck market that lists production numbers for the first several years of production.

Your unit was made in 1979.
