Thread: So confused.

    Default So confused.

So about a half hour away there are some new speed signs in the school zone . On both sides of the road. I am so confused with this.

They are yellow signs that say Your speed is. They are some sort of instant on.. However.......

btw pop mode was not on for this.

Test one : I drove down and was given about 800-900 foot range Alerting K Band (on my escort x50) That was fine. I went down about a kilometer to hit the other sign from the other direction around a very slight curve in the road. I was the only car on the road ( in all directions ) the thing clocked my speed at 65kms And did not alert on my detector!!!? They are the same sign , shouldn't it alert k Band

Test 2 : I drive down the hill and get about 500 feet away where I get a ramp then it goes silent till about 300 feet and fully ramps again/ again I drive down about a mile or so and spin around to try the other sign and it gets my speed and gives me a full blast alert of k AFTER it has my speed

Anyone know whats is up ???

Strange. Where I live/drive, there are several of these "speed signs" and most of them do read in both directions if equipped to do so. Here, these signs are always placed along roads on the outskirts of small and larger cities. Every one I have passed has been picked up by my V1 on both sides of each one and some are capable of working in both directions at the same time (individual readings) and in a few cases, only one direction is targeted, even though my V1 will still sense the sign in the direction not being read by the "sign", I choose to allow these sign to be "read" by my V1 because it keeps my detecting skills sharp as well as showing me how my RD responds to the various environment of each encounter.

Bottom line - guess it depends on the manufacturer of the "signs" that determine how each model works. BTW, every one (dozens) I have passed in the last several years have read my speed correctly within 1-2 mph. I wish all those units in LEOs' cars were that accurate !
