Anyone see the episode on Mythbusters about radar detectors. I did not see it but I heard that Mythbustors claimed radar detectors as Worthless. I am not sure if they tested the Top 3. Probably not...but I was just curious. This myth is NOT busted

They didn't test radar detectors, even though the episode was called "Beat the Radar Detector". Been discussed on here before, see the highlights here:

Was that this weekend?
I did see one this weekend about Radar jamming and Laser jamming myths.
Basically using an aluminum coated car increased the radar affect (Duhhh).
Putting any reflective material like aluminum foil or prism tape increased laser effectiveness (Duhhh).
Even dull black paint didn’t have any affect on laser or radar.
They even tried lead paint on the toy car it had no affect on the radar but did have an affect on the toy cars movement.
They did find using a rotating mirror on the top of the car reduced the radar signature a few feet and it took longer to get a lock-on speed.
The funny one was using standard LED’s to jam laser did have an effect on the toy car.
But didn’t have any affect on a full size car.

It would have worked, but:

-The light blue paint wasn't light enough or blue enough.
-They used the wrong kind of prism tape
-They didn't have the correct side of the aluminum foil facing out.
-Their disco ball wasn't big enough, also it has to be spinning
-The jingled keys have to be for a 1975 Dodge Charger for it to work

Also, they should have tested it on a real freeway instead of controlled conditions, in order to give it the best possible real-world challenge

yea, the cannon for the foil DEF did not shoot the foil far enough to scramble the radar.... idiots... :roll:

Yeah, saw that episode, I got very aggrevated at there half ass attempts.

You kidding... They did us a huge favor... The world thinks you cannot jam laser and all of this stuff is just garbage... Just the way I like it! :shock:
