I have had this detector for 8 months now and all I can say is that it is amazing. This detector will alert you from unimaginable distances. I've had it alert me 2 miles before on 35.5GHz and when I finally got to the LEO, he was in a parking lot perpendicular to the road I was on. It has paid for itself many times over and I think it is the best purchase for an electronic device I have ever made. I also own a Beltronics V995 in the spare car which I was using before I purchased the Redline. The difference in sensitivity is crazy. It will pick up a radar signal miles ahead of the V995 and will always pick up I/O and Q/T. I realize it is like comparing an apple to an orange, but the point is that if you are in the market for a great detector then save up and buy the Redline. You will not regret it.
So mine came with the Ka segmentation. Here is how my Redline is setup:
Set to Highway
X-Band = Off
K-Band = Off
KaSW = Off
Ka1-Ka3 = Off
Ka4-Ka10 = On
SpecMode = On
autoMute = On
Quick Start = On
TSR = Off
RDR = Off
So here's the deal; X-Band, K-Band, Ka-Band 33.8GHz, and Laser are not used in my area. Red light cameras and speed cameras are illegal to use as stated by legislation. All of the LEOs that had K-Band have been upgraded to 34.7GHz Ka-Band and the other LEOs use 35.5GHz. There are two great things because of the above mentioned. K-Band is turned off so I no longer have to listen to any door openers or luxury vehicles. The second great thing is that only two frequencies are used: 34.7GHz and 35.5GHz, and 95% of encounters are CO (Constant On) so I am alerted miles in advance. The last wonderful thing is that because Ka1-Ka3 are turned off I never have to listen to leaky Cobras anymore. This radar detector is a complete monster. My suggestion is to save up and purchase the Redline as it is worth every penny and then some.
