Tinting

Hey all,
I see all the discussions about solar barrier glass causing problems. Is anyone using an X50 with tinted windows? All my windows, except windshield, are tinted. Not limo dark, but fairly dark. Has anyone had experience with this and know how the tinting would effect the RD? Thanks for the help!

The x50 isnt the best when it comes to radar from the rear. I have a truck with fairly dark back window. I dont know of ever getting shot from the rear but when I pass a cop it will still pick up his radar even though its shooting the other way. Sorry if this doesnt help just from my experinces

I have a Rav4 with full tint except front...My problem is this I have a 6 inch glare strip on the front window...My RD is mounted righr next to mirror.....Is the tint having an effect :roll: I really don't know ops: It seems to work OK........I would love to mount on bottom of window BUT :roll: I don't want it in sight.......I almost feel like removing Tint on front window.........But it's great for sun glare 8)

The detector being behind the tint and mounted high will most likely give you a lower chance of detecting laser. I would check to see if the tint is metallic or not. A metallic tint may give you some problems by reflecting radar signals some. A good test would be to find a good K band (maybe X band too) door opener (like Walmart, Walgreens, etc.) or a speed sign and make multiple runs towards the source with the detector behind then below the tint.
