The mount + RD size + windshield + rear view mirror position just works out perfect for me. The RD rests up against the side of the rear view mirror. Its up at the highest that I can put it. My rear view mirrow, I am sure like many others, is curved around the edges, the RD kind of rests on the top corner of the curve so as to stop it from bouncing up and down, also the side movement is also stablized.

If I have time later today I will post a picture.

I guess if one wanted to use very small amounts of double sided 'mounting tape' that would also be rather effective... I may have to do this on the ZX-7R.

    Default Re: x50 mount

My x50 weighed a lot more than my Bel 970. The window mounts for the x50 are a failure and need little rubber bumpers to stop from all the bouncing. The older window mounts for the Bel's were pretty good and they had those little rubber bumpers. Interesting that I don't like using the window mount on the x50 but if you use the Bel 795, it takes the same window mount as the x50, and it works much better. I wonder how much the x50 weighs? Maybe since it has POP mode, this is why it adds to the weight of the x50. My suggestion, always have a piece of velcro on the bottom of your main rd's you use. Living up here in Michigan during the wintertime, I have even had my V1 window mount come off and was glad I had velcro as a backup mount. But that was when it colder too. Put some velcro on the bottom of the x50. This will help when you get real pissed off seeing the x50 bouncing all over the place. Mk

just use a third suction cup as a "bumper" for the detector. Done.
