Default What can radar signals go thru? Trying to build box for rad

I purchased one of these for my motorcycle:
    http://www.radarbusters.com/products.../radar-box.asp

It is great, and I can mount it permanently under my headlight. But my major issue is that this box has a clear front and back for the radar to receive signals. This is not good for theft control if I want to mount the unit permanently.

What can I use to cover the clear front and back of the box to hide it from outside eyes, that would not block radar and/or laser function? I was thinking a dark or smoke colored cellophane.

    Any ideas?

I believe that you can use a tinted glass or plexiglass. However, make sure that it isn't metallic.

You could also use a light tint film (window tint) like found at Autozone or Wal-Mart but expect your performance to go down a little bit. Probably not enough to notice

Probably any platic material (the kind they use in custom shops) for the box. Don't use tint foil or anything metallic and you should be ok (just look at some remote system pods like the RX75 and you will see they use plain plastic too)

I thought that the front was clear not for the radar but dor the laser signals, and the rear was clear so that you could see the display. Anyway, why don't you just use Veil on the front and rear of the box as well as your headlight. The Veil can get it as dark as tint and you know that it works.

clear front and back for the radar to receive signals
Only laser will be affected by paint or any darkening process you choose.

If you want to use the laser detector you will have either to keep it clear or to darken it and install a ''light pipe'', any clear acrylic condutcs infrared by 99% , let's say u paint the front with black latex paint , drill a hole to fit an exact size rod of plexiglass , it acts as an eye , i tested it and it works., make sure the rod is aligned right to sensor , to be absolutely sure you can make multiple eyes with a shifted angle for each rod.1/8 inch is enough
