    Default Snooper question

:? Hi. Just got a Snooper S5r which is working fine, but tonight on the way home I passed a cell phone mast and it gave its normal little beep, a few seconds later it started again until it was reading between k4 and k5. The only thing I could see was the headlights of a car behind me. Could this have been a police car with a radar on me even though my detector is faceing the front of the car, or something else. It went back to its normal state once the other car went off in a different direction???

    Confused

if your in the uk cops dont have radar over here, well they do have the radar guns but they can only use them when stationary !

moving radar is banned in the uk!

the car behind may have had a junk radar detector which give off high emissions hense setting your detector off.

also it may have been a false from somewhere else, also cars can use radar instead of ultrasonic detectors in the bumpers! '' those parking sensors''

i sometimes get falses when i'm on a dual carrageway with fields either side!

according to the uk home office guidelines they cant use moving radar, although traffic safety systems have had the dash mount radars, but i've never come across them....

even if they do have dash mount they arnt allowed to use radar in moving mode... wether they may change this i dont know... but i think they are taking that radar is outdated and its harder to use on european roads.......

where as radar is ideal for usa open highways plenty of space to hide!

You got a false alarm from the Cell Phone Mast. Some of the masts of one of the Network operators will give out the same frequecy that your radar detector is designed to look for. Most radar detectors will pick them up. If you radar detector didn't then it's actually not very good at it's job. At least this way you know your device is actually working.

Don't worry, after a couple of weeks of using it you'll soon get the hang of what is a false alarm and what isn't.
