Default Emailed Escort about Ku band - here is their responce

    I wrote to Sales:

    "Dear Sir or Madam,
I am wanting to buy an x50 but I have one question. I know the x50 does not detect the Ku band so I was wondering
if I bought an x50 now would it be upgradeable in the future to detect the Ku band or will I have to buy another model."

I didn't receive a response so I sent the above plus this to support:

    "Support,
I sent this message to sales yesterday and have not heard back from them(Kind of makes me question
Escort's customer service especially when Valentine 1 responded in 5 minutes) could you answer my
    question below. (above)"

After a couple of days I got the exact same response from both:

It is good to hear from you! The FCC authorized the Ku-Band for use in the US over ten years ago. We continue to hear "rumors" about the introduction of Ku equipped radar guns, but so far this has not happened. We have recently heard of a manufacturer producing a prototype Ku-Band gun, but so far nothing is being used for traffic monitoring. As with all other threats and new technologies, when this becomes a threat in the US we will provide a solution. At this time there are no new police frequencies in the US.
Thanks for your interest in Escort!

I then replied back to both:

Yes, I am sure Escort will provide a solution to the Ku Band if it comes out in the US but my question is will the 8500 x50 be upgradeable to the Ku Band
or will I be required to purchase a new model? This is the question I want answered before I make my purchase. If the x50 is going to be upgradeable to the
Ku band, I buy the x50 today, if not I spend the extra $100 and buy the Valentine 1.

It has now been a week and I haven't heard anything from Escort on the last question. I know it has been stated here that they plan on upgrading the x50, but until I hear it from them I am hesitant. I really want the x50 but I am now leaning towards the V1 just because of lack of responce from Escort. Has anyone here heard anything directly from Escort?

they dont care m8, really makes you wonder the quality of a company and their support when they cant even reply to paying customers emails or posts etc. Imagine if you had an issue with the detector, do you think they will respond?? Id say not

at least with the V1 it has KU band that can be turned on whenever u want. They are also upgradeable(hardware and software)..x50 is software only upgrades to a minor extent.

Escort is too busy with advertisement/propaganda, paying off companies to test there radar detector and claim how super it is. Overly concerned with calling themselves "World's Best" and marketing it out everywhere so everyone believes it.

    VR is customer oriented.

You have to wonder why Escort doesn't offer hardware upgrades like V1 does. They have the resources to do so. It's all marketing..they want you to throw away your old detector and buy a brand new one.

    calm down bud

wasnt the original 8500 advertised as upgrade-able?

well when the X50 came out, 8500 owners couldnt ugrade to the X50... they would have to sell their 8500 and buy a brand new X50

i dont think that was an "upgrade", more like a replacement

now the X50 has been proven to have better performance and it has Pop, so i think that is a pretty good improvement

    a V1 can be "upgraded"

no doubt the 8500/X50 is a great detector, a lot of V1 users here have it and are very pleased with it.... but you have to admit, it cannot really be upgraded

i bought my first V1 3.824 and i have upgraded twice for free... 3.825 and 3.826. And it was proven that there was a performance increase.

X2..the 8500 was out..then the x50 was next step up in hardware advancements...8500 owners had to shell out another 320-350 to get it.

And yes the original 8500 was advertised as upgradeable..
