    Default Newbie with some questions

hey guys, i was just wondering if you could answer a few questions about my radar detector i just bought. I have it installed and everything but I have never been able to detect a cop... it will go off "K Band" when i pass construction zones... and i get a LOT of false alarms, but i have never had it alert me to an actual cop... i don't really understand this.. also.. what exactly does "K-Band, X-Band,Ka-Band" actually mean?
My detector is an Early Warning Radar/Laser Detector with Voice/Text Display Model: EW-3200

Thanks alot, and i'm sorry about the newbie questions :P don't laugh lol

Sault Ste. Marie I've been there...

OK basically your detector is marginal. Be careful using it. Watch out for Spectres, don't keep the RD in plain sight and turn it off when it won't be helping you (traffic jam etc) Watch out for K and Ka bands especially but don't forget your X. These are different types of radars in use.

Sounds like you were picking up K band OPP in the zones???

it has a VG-2 Mode for the spectres apparently.. i think it can't be detected.. i'm not positive though.. so k,x,ka they are all cops? cuz like it has gone off when there are definatly no cops around.. and i have also been right beside cops and it never even chirped

VG2 is long gone. 100% that it CAN be detected by the spectre.

The Police have to be using their radar for you radar detector to go off!!! Is is a radar detector not a cop detector. I am willing to bet if tyou see an officer not running radar he might have spectre in his car and expect a big fine

Yes for pretty marginal radar protection you re giving off a signal that a Spectre will pick up from over 1,000 feet away.

It's not worth it dont use it.

Hey my friend, WHY, WHY, WHY do you have to post a picture of your car and your licence plate when you never know if and when an Ontario cop will browse this forum (cause everybody in Ontario, including cops, knows about Radar Roy and his websites)   sorry for my very friendly advice, but learn to be more discret when it comes with illegal stuff, and RDs are totally illegal in Ontario including your area...

And based on your licence plates, the first two letters show either you are a new driver and/or you just got new plates...
    Drive safely...
