Well, in general and in theory...yes and no. Yes, it depends on "who you get"......and no, it doesn't always mean that the 20 year old know more than the 45 year olds. I think it mainly depends upon the individual's knowledge, experience, and DESIRE to be informed and informative.Originally Posted by raresvx
For example, I found the employees at the Radio Shacks in the greater Cincinnati area to be (for the most part) very honest. One guy in his early 20's flat out told me he really didn't know anything. He suggested to contact another store, which I did. I spoke to a guy in his mid 30's, and he was "helpful"...but he didn't know a lot either. To his credit, though, he would look up and TRY to find answers...but his knowledge was somewhat limited. But then, he suggested that I contact a particular individual at ANOTHER store in the area who he said was very knowledgeable about RDs....and when I tolked to that person, a man in his mid 40's, he WAS very knowledgeable. I saw why he came recommended once I talked with him. No BS, just facts...and what little he didn't know, he admitted he didn't know, then he looked it up, and if he found the answer great...but if he didn't, he would tell me that he couldn't find it and then recommend that I contact the customer service department for the detector which I had the question about.
So yeah, it does vary....but not necessarily due to age....although in general, I'd agree that younger people are more in tune with and care more about electronics equipment than older folks. I have a feeling the older folks are more in tune with what sells...cause they are probably more interested in the $$$ than in what "interests" them
BTW...my choice was "Just Yes"....because I think it would be just as interesting to see how much they actually DO know, as how much they don't!
