As long as they don't have digital. It should work.
No. It's not able to follow trunked systems, and it's not got digital ability.
Right now there's about 5 scanners on the market that will probably be OK (perhaps requiring a trip back to the factory) after rebanding, which is happening over the next couple years.
The Pro96 and 2096 from RadioShack, and the Uniden BCD996T, BC15T, and the BCD396T are pretty much the ones that will have a future. Other than the BC15T, the rest also cover digital which is present in many larger cities, and is showing up in more and more places as governments spend DHS grants, and as they look to replace aging analog systems for which parts are not going to be available for in the near future.
For info on rebanding look here

Find what systems you want to monitor here

and see if they are trunked and/or digital.

Good site for trunk tracking / local freq's
If you have analog trunking get a Pro 97, I love the little guy
If they got digital wait a couple years for the price to drop
my town is not digital yet.how about the pro 96 its only $100 is that decent police scanner?
what are the main difference from each or should i save up a extra $100 for the pro97.
The pro 96 is a digital trunking scanner and it's $499, perhaps you meant the pro94?
