CB or Scanner

I know...use the search function. I did and it got 775 hits. My problem is i'm on dial-up. 44Kps to be exact. (part of living in the boonies). I looked and looked but at 2 minute load times for a page I got frustrated.

I want something to aid my V1. I have decided i want either a Uniden BCT15 or PC78 elite with a Wilson 5000 magnetic mount. Which would better aid me in my evading speed traps. Most of my driving is done on Mississippi Highways.

I'd get yourself a portable. That way you could take it inside and listen
to it in the house as well. I recommend a Uniden BC246T

You make a valid point. Do you know where to get a good price on one. so far the best price i've found is 203.90 from bearcatwarehouse.com, but it's only 5.xx more from uniden.

well frist if you want to not get a speeding ticket on the highway then a cb radio is the best thing to have cause truckers give up heads time miles before you see the cop or even your v1 before it goes off when they see a cop
they allways most the times the let you know on the radio.there is a cop up head

Well, on the other hand, a good scanner will pick up CB channels as well. You can program it to scan the CB Channel you would value from the most as well as the State Police etc. if you wanted too.

This is what I'm considering doing.

Not to mention that listening to all the talk is really interesting. The other day coming home on aq 3 hr. trip, I was alerted to a big accident 50 miles up the road.

scanning for cb talk on a scanner is not so good you have to be so colse to the truck driver to even pick up the signal :?

NOT on a regular basis... lots of times I drove by cops running radar or laser, lots of trucks on the freeway and my CB Radio went totally silent, but then I had no problem placing a smokey alert with the exact mile marker over the radio... it's all up to each individual to talk on the radio about what he/she has just seen on the road, some do it happily, others prefer to keep it for themselves... but regardless, running a CB with a powerful antenna gives you more options than not having one in your car :wink:
