    Default A good scanner.

I’m thinking of getting a scanner to check up with my local LEO’s. What would everyone suggest?
Im thinking something simple that will get the job done at a low cost.

I got a pro97 from radio shack. I happened to catch it on sale for $150 but there's another $99 one they sell as well. The 97 has "signal stalker" which is nice. It will lock on to the closest frequency to you.

Note, none of my scanners has ever isolated a speed trap for me. However, they are really good at locating accidents so you can take a different route. Also, nice when your sitting in traffic and you want to know what the hold up is.

If your area uses digital, then you'll prolly need the Pro96 (that's the digital one, right?)

The Pro 97 is digital too. Doesn't help with encrypted stuff. Not much encrypted stuff down here. Too expensive I guess.

As always, I think cheep, do research, then spend a small fortune. I want to spend under $100 but know I can go up to $200 or so.
