    Default cb noise?

Ok i just got my system installed, and when the car is off everything is fine but the second I start the car I get a ton of noise. This noise varies when I rev up the motor, so I am thinking that maybe a dc power filter would help. From what I know that is alternator whine. What do you guys think?

It's normal. As you rev your engine various RF noise is given off, a lot of which bleeds on CB unfortunately.

How do you have it connected. I have mine connected through the cig lighter, which is why mine does that. A hard wire would provide a "cleaner" sound in my case.

Turning up the squelch takes care of the noise.

It's kinnda fun sometime just being parked, and being able to pick up other people electrical systems. I could sometimes tell when a car was unlocked, when the alarm sounded, when their motor revved as they passed me. Granted, this was all when I had the car off. Once I turned it on, my own electrical noise drowned everything out.

I hard wired mine into the cigarette light socket. I will have to unhook the antenna and see if the noise disappears. If it does than I think a dc suppressor will work. My radio also has a RF gain knob and a setting to adjust vehicle ignition noise. I will try those before I go and buy more things.

The Cig light socket is usually not a good way to go. The wiring harness for it snakes all over the place picking up the car's computers hash and the alternator whine . It also can (quite often) produce a ground loop between your antenna ground and the radio. If you can, do a direct power cable run to the battery.
