Plastic cap on antenna

I just got my Little Wil. Am I supposed to leave that little plastic cap on it when its in use? Or was that just to "protect" it when it was packaged?

Well I read you take it off for SWR testing then put it back on. So much for that, mine is missing. I just reset the SWR and it works fine. Or at least I guess it does, most truckers will tell you in so many words if your CB sucks or not, and I have had no complaints so far.

it is there to protect against static discharge. google "corona ball" or some sort to get a better idea.

Basically to be honest... it really does not do much of anything, but I do believe cell21633 is correct since that is the piece you are referring to.
