The hardest thing for you is going to be finding an open area... do not do SWR testing with any buildings/large trees/etc around.

We own a vast amount of land in the boonies, so thats not a huge problem for me, but it may be a bit more difficult in the bay-area.

Mythbusters, doesn't seem to have a hard time finding open areas.

Montu, I'm glad you found a 'kit'. I must have been searching for the wrong thing when I was looking, because I had to go al a carte.

I try to be a few hundred feet, but thats just me. Basically find the biggest empty parking lot you have around and try that... generally at LEAST 50ft.

Actually... they can, but alas, if that is all you have, a few light-poles in a large empty parking lot is acceptable.

Basically you would ideally want to be away from them, but as long as you are far away from large buildings or object (tractor trailer)... you should be fine.

also how do i "tilt" the mag mount? can you move it off center etc? or do i have to put it back towards my rear window so it leans back?
Radio Shack is the most easiest to find and priced right.
