    Default The lights are out!!!

All the lights on my DX-959 are out. I can still receive & transmit, however I cannot tell for sure what channel I'm on, nor can I see the meter in the dark. Weird thing, though, is that the decimal point in the frequency window is still somewhat visible. Any thoughts?

Was it peaked and tweaked? sounds like something shorted or is loose and came undone.

Nope to your first question...hopefully something just came loose. I really don't have $$$ right now to have it fixed; i.e. my $$$ is tied up in other purchases currently.

How are you on the warranty timeline, even if it's close I'd call up Galaxy and see what they say, if it hasn't been modded then it ought to be a free fix, just stuck living without for a week or so.

You didn't change any dimmer settings or accidentally hit the 'dimmer' switch in, as it knocks out the (majority of the) display... check that first if you haven't.

Galaxy has a great warranty if bought authorized.

I'd be willing to bet you knocked into the dimmer button and hit it in (pressed it in)... and just didn't realize it, many people do it with big radios.

Try the simple stuff first if you haven't yet pal, I hope it works.

I bought it off eBay...I'm guessing there's no warranty.

I will double check that dimmer switch in the AM. I didn't even know it pressed inwards. Funny, my camcorder mount fell off my windshield the other day...perhaps that caused this. Regardless, I'll double check the switch in the morning.

    Thanks guys!

Haha, not a problem mate, people do it all the time on these big radios... glad I could help.

PS: Since I am not on as much anymore, if you or any other long-time members need help with CB stuff (especially with the 959 type radios) -or any countermeasure I have- just hit me with a PM, I will rarely pop on just to see if I have any.

Nice to hear the problem is solved Victor.

    It was:

He (accidentally) hit the "Dimmer" knob which blanks-out the majority of the display... see above.

Galaxy CB's have 2-YR Warranty's if bought authorized.
