Almost looks like a short cupholder mount would be a perfect fit. A gooseneck would get you to the right area but may cause issues with reverse (I thought you had an auto).

I know a lot of guys use that general area for control head mounting so it must work decently well.

Looks like I may just go with a vent mount (LM-100H) and buy it from some other place (that Lido site has ignored my email and phone call). "The grip has padded arms and can handle devices from 1 7/8 inches to 4 1/4 inches in height."

if you sat through my dissertation on suction mounts you know I'm the same way. I've only had bad experiences with cupholder mounts, but I haven't blamed the mount yet because my car's got funky placement on them, my cupholders are good for cell phones and HTs only, they don't hold drinks well so I wasn't too surprised when they didn't take kindly to the mount.

If you're in WI AES is right there and I'm pretty sure they stock them.

Yes, I know where AES is in Milwaukee. Thanks for reminding me. I'll have to hit them up when I go back this weekend.

Just checked their website and they do indeed stock Lido mounts.

I went through three Comet/Maldol antennas, and then started looking at the cop cars to see what they use. I now have two Larsens, the 2/70 on a trunk mount and the 150 NM0 on a mag mount. I've used them in Rallys, and they survive.

Spend the extra money now, and don't buy another one three years from now.

I have an 800H, i use a 5/8 wave mag mount on the roof the local ham shop suggested. Seems to work pretty good so far. I plan to go the NMO route eventually.

I don't have it this way anymore, but it worked great for me while I had it like this, before when I had the Cobra 18 and the BCD996XT in the truck, I was really scarce on space for the 2m/440. I made a bracket for the radio underneath the seat, and ran the separation cable to the front and mounted the screen and controls up in the top left corner of the windshield using 3M outdoor heavy duty two sided adhesive (the grey stuff with the red backing), no issues whatsoever.
