Re: Good wide open area radar detector?

I can't improve on the RD advice already given, but as a former traveling salesguy who drove around in rural areas a lot, I can offer a traveling salesman joke:
  2. Re: Found a TX DPS Crown Vic running K band today

Maybe he and that R2 unit have been through a lot together.

Poll: Re: So Why Do You Speed?

That's a lot of it for me. When I'm in a "construction zone" where the work was completed six months ago and there are 4 lanes of new asphalt, all of seven cars on the road, and they're all in my...

Nope, doesn't quite have the right cadence.

    Re: Ka 33.2

25 here this morning, 40ish now, heading for the 70s by the weekend.

And I have what I hope is a cold and what might be a sinus infection. Ugh.

  9. Re: Montgomery AL motorcycles working it on I-85

Update - saw an article in the paper saying traffic citations are up over 50,000 tickets in 2008 vs. 2007. They wrote about 10,000 tickets in 2007.

This is in an area (including suburbs) of about...
  10. Re: x-50 Rev 5 Blue gives 2 mile Ka band save.

If it's working, I wouldn't worry. Power could have fluctuated, could be temperature... electronics get their toe in their ear sometimes. I wouldn't send it in unless it did it a lot.

    Re: Ka 33.2

    The specs say (escortradar.com):

    Ka-band 34.700 GHz ± 1300 MHz

I remember some US market RDs advertising Ka/Ku capability. One of the many bands picked up by Cobras, for example...:D

    Re: First Ticket

Yeah, 1 ticket won't do much to the premium, given an overall good accident, citation, and claim record.

Did the officer cite you for reckless, or just write it up as a speeding ticket?

Funny thing about turning X off - most of my falses are K band these days...

I've got everything on. X, POP, everything, and I'm not getting all that many falses. YMMV

    Re: Atlanta to Biloxi Trip?

As I posted elsewhere, Mgm PD is REALLY out there with Ka 34.7 and motorcycles on I-85. Saw three today.

The city is having budget problems. Coincidence? :D
  23. Montgomery AL motorcycles working it on I-85

I don't always run my RD while in town, but I had a lot of miles to cover and - call it a premonition. I was on I-85 going "south" (actual compass bearing is west there, but it's a N/S highway) and...
