Default 2001 Subaru Forester "tincan" installs are finally rolling..

Well once I got used to the new ride, I quickly decided to make the most of it and started getting the countermeasures in place.
About two days after the accident http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...ommission.html I had a V1 on the way. This was installed the first nice day after I bought the Forester:

I was a little unmotivated to do much else initially, but seeing my antennas sitting in the closet and not doing anything about it, just isn't right. I ordered two Comet lip mounts. They're pretty sweet, they have 4 adjustable planes, great for hatches, and if I knew how adjustable they were, I would've had them on the Audi, instead of grasshopper antennas. I put the CB antenna on one, and a Laird multi-band antenna on the other. I'm going to use it for my GPS for now, and maybe down the road get another scanner. These pics show each antenna on the same mount, but I'll add an updated picture tomorrow. As it stands now, the GPS antenna is on the drivers side and the CB antenna on the passengers side. Here they are:

I also installed a Midland CB. It fit PERFECT in the old ashtray slot. the slot took minimal adjustment, but the CB doesn't even move:

I also got a garmin nuvi 755t, it was a time consuming hardwire, for a number of reasons, but well worth it:

I was asked for my reviews on the CB:
the size is perfect. it was peaked and tuned by sparkys, and seems to have good reception and transmission. the speaker and mic also seem to work very well. I can hear it loud and clear even where it is installed.
the one negative is that it reverts to ch 9 it the power is completely cut to it. if you shut it off and have it powered by a constant source, you're ok. Mine is currently shutting off with the car. This will be addressed when i install my planned secondary fusebox.

This is the third quality install on a Subaru. Looks awesome! There was a guy that posted pics on here of his 02 WRX that was just as tight, awesome car too.

Wow, it's not too often that someone would get so lucky as to have an absolutely perfect fit like that on the CB. I had to work with mine for most of an evening, and it didn't even turn out as well as yours did! Setup looks really great.

Nice set-up so far, I wish my CB would fit into a slot as easy as that. Had to just mount it to a part of the center console after being frustrated for an hour trying to get it to fit into the ashtray housing.

thanks for the comments fellas! I'm going to try to keep her out of the pond this time! haha, I was thinking of installing a snorkel, half as a joke, haha- I installed the GPS and hardwired it- it looks really clean, i'll add the GPS pics later-
The CB fit is shocking, haha, I still can't believe how perfect it fits!
Did the round trip to Hope, Maine, with 3 solid V1 saves a two solid CB saves. Ka falses thru all of Maine though. They have these stupid "maximum speed limit" signs, that I'm assuming are for bad weather, about every mile.
The Good: The car could keep a nice clip. Countermeasures are installed in very practical locations. Letting off the accelerator immediately cuts 15 mph off your speed.
The Bad: 21-24 mpg. Extremely noisy ride. The wind and engine noise forced me to put my counter measures extremely loud.
The Ugly: The brakes are horrible. One emergency braking and they're overheated.
