My first real post, so here goes. I had been on the fence for the past year about adding counter measures to my car, since it really doesn't have a good mounting location. After finding nothing online on any of the various Forums of my specific car, a C5 Corvette Z06 (2001-2004), which has the grill screens installed from the factory and are apart of the design of the C5 Z06, I decided to give it a shot. I knew I wanted the LI's, now just how to mount them.
First I did a test run WITHOUT counter measures installed on the car. The shooter (I am sure he will post here soon) had a tough time getting a reading until under 800 feet. This is fiberglass car with no front plate and no exposed headlights to aim for.
So with this in mind and with the shooters help we came up with an install idea and if it didn't work I would try something different. This is not the "Best" location as told by some, but I wasn't willing to install these in plain sight on the first go around. I considered cutting my grill screens to mount the heads, but again, not wanting to destroy them without trying my idea first.
Well onto the install. The front heads are placed in the brake duct openings in the front fascia, next to the turn signals and near the head lights when opened. The rears are in the license plate area using OEM screws.
Take a look and "flame away" if desired, but in the end the results speak for themselves. I did a second test with the same expert shooter using two different guns, three or four different shooting angles, shot at the front, shot at the rear, with headlights on/up, and headlights off/down - NO READINGS - Even got a JAM code on the gun.
I am still waiting to attend a regional shoot to test this install out at the "next level", but I am thrilled with it so far.
And a huge THANK YOU to the shooter, who is still helping me with the install.
