    Default BMW E60 M5 Escort 9500ci Install

The M5 is overdue for a custom installed Radar defense system. Decided to go with the Escort 9500ci based on reviews and the ZR4 Laser Jam and shifter.

I am going to be putting up pics throughout the install. Chad Wynens is a good friend I was referred to and he is currently doing the install. Chad and I developed some great ideas for the install to be as stealth and OEM matching as possible .

WILL UPDATE PICS AS PROGRESS IS MADE

Front Sensors installed. They were carefully placed through the mesh for the best reading. We did not want to install behind mesh because it blocks the sensor and weakens the accuracy.

    Wiring the sensors:

Radar sensor was leveled and positioned to account for the negative angle of the front lower grille

Laser shifters were leveled and positioned to account for the curvature of the bumper

excellent position for the radar reciever but the "shifters" are instant punch through for anyone skilled at using lidar, imo.

look at the escort thread and jazzys post of how the ZR4's did in the last guys of lidar test.

Definitely very nice work. But the Shifters are going to do nothing for you, except maybe tell you that you just got road raped. Their position renders them useless. Of course, even in ideal position, the ZR4 can't even begin to protect a BMW, so don't make the mistake of believing you are protected from laser by any degree at all. You are not.

Why do you say the positioning makes them useless. Also, what do you mean, they can't even begin to protect a BMW?

The ZR4s are one of the worst jammers on the market. They are mounted low and way to far away from the headlights to even begin to cover them. Through my personal testing I don't see those as having any chance of protecting your vehicle. You'd be better off selling the ZR4 and buying an LI.

we aren't bashing your install fellow bimmer owner, we are just trying to educate. escort markets their shifters as "the ultimate laser defense system" and why shouldn't you believe it? They can say anything they want about their shifters, it's marketing. We all have tested the various jammers and ZR4's come out at the bottom. I have 4 blinder heads on my E90 and members here are still able to get punch throughs.

It looks like you got a real clean install going and it could look really nice and stealthy, like others have said though, you might want to consider upgrading to a Blinder or LI system
