Default Garmin Nuvi's new "lane assist" feature

How well does it work in the real world?

I think it's more of a marketing gimmick at the moment. I was reading impressions over at gpsreview.net and most people say it only works 5% of the time.

The idea behind it is, when you are driving along the interstate and it's time to get off on your exit, it will show a still screen of the exit and what lanes your supposed to be in, and what it should look like.

When I had my TomTom 930 it had this feature and not once in a month did it ever display the exit.

I havent heard of this. Is it something that comes in the update downloads or only on new units? I have a Nuvi 760 that I keep updated pretty well but I never know what the updates are until after Ive downloaded them. So far nothing inpressive has come out.

Imagine the amount of work Navteq has to do to get the picture of every highway exit in the US on the screen. I suppose only 5% of the exits are currently available. So that's why it only works 5% of the time.
