Default When to run L? **Corrected**

How many run J/j mode while driving in town? I tested j mode some today and it seemed to help cut down on the false alarms, but when I switched to J it pretty much took care of all false alarms. I am wondering if J cuts down too much on your detection in town? Thoughts?

I assume you mean option J in the programming mode. J turns POP on and off. If the po-po don't use POP in your area (and most areas they don't), there's no harm in turning it off, and like you observed, it does cut down on falses.

If you're referring to big L/little l/A modes, that's a different story, these modes affect X band mainly, and K to a smaller extent (unless you change certain programming options).

If you're getting big U and little u instead of L and l, then your V1 is in Euro Mode (option u in the programming).
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

When I push and hold the vol button in is when I can select the l or L. Yes, "l" seemed to cut down on the X band alerts, but "L" took care of all but one very close X band false.

You're talking about "l" (Logic) and "L" (Advanced Logic) modes.

Exactly. The original post referred to "J" and "j" modes, which don't exist.

I run big L all the time, since X band isn't used for anything around here except for door openers and traffic light sensors.

But when I travel to NJ, X band gets turned back on and I switch to A mode.

Where are you from Carboncopy? Location can help us determine if X is used where you are, or not.

I run "l" all the time except with I am in NJ or on roads i do not know.

The rest of my settings are Ka - More responsive(meaing more lights will light up at the first sign of Ka and POP off)

I would turn X off but I travel through NJ alot and there are many rumors of X-band in some NY towns

I run big L most of the time unless I'm on a trip . . If i'm bored than i'll run A just to see where some falses are at.

I am in IL, so I think we have pretty much everything. However, I haven't seen any real X band alerts in a long time. Back in the day it was big time X and K band. Since I've had my RD's I've only seen real Ka and K alerts. So, "L" disables X band correct? Would you guys recommend turning POP off and enable more responsive alerts for Ka? I've seen 1 "J" from a Ka alert, but I believe it was from a junk RD, so the "J" did work correctly in that encounter.

    Thanks,

    CC

BTW, I really do like the V1 even though it may not be as user friendly as my x65 I love the arrows and the sensitivity.
