Ordered a Refurb V1 Today

I want to see a verified case of ordering a returned unit and getting a 3.851

Well that's one of my points. I ordered a refurb on 7/21, received it on 7/24. That, if I recall was about a week or so into 3.851 being available. I was told on the 21st that no refurbs were available. So, as I've said before, they either gave me a new unit or gutted an existing return and put in 3.851. Because I definitely do have a 3.851.

Friend ordered a V1 refurb on Monday. Still has not shipped as of Weds as VR indicated they haven't received any returns yet.

None of the 'ship on same day as ordered even though they said they were out' stuff that we've read about on this board.

Seems to debunk the theory that 'refurbs' are really new units at a discount.

Interested to see what he actually gets when it does ship.

Confirmed that no refurbs in stock and the item had not shipped. Confirmed no charge to credit card. Indicated that they would call when shipped.

That certainly is weird. As I said previously, they told me (in the same conversation) that they had none but that it would ship out the next business day. Hmmm. Maybe they're onto us being onto them and are adjusting their practices?

I ordered mine last friday, and on monday I was called to say it shipped, when on friday it was "when we have them" so I got on the "waiting list".

Anxiously awaiting its arrival, I will post the software version here when I get it.

Going up to Canada soon (next week). It will be nice to have the V1 in NY state where I have rec'd 3 tickets just passing through infrequently (3 or 4 times per year) in the past 5-6 years. I am embarrassed to admit I got 2 tickets within 3 hours on one of the trips. In my defense, one of them was crossing over into NY from PA on I-81, where the PSL dropped for no reason from 65 to 55 for the first couple of miles then resumes being 65. The cop got me doing 79 in a 55 (I thought I was doing less than 15 over).

I plan on still using the V1 in Ontario but having my old crap detector handy to cough up if a spectre gets me. I say old crap because:
1: it's about 5 years old
2: it falsed on everything when it worked
3: it won't power up anymore.

I think it might have been a rebranded passport - the old familiar "highway" display in red comes to mind. I think my ex father-in-law got it from sharper image of all places.

Anyway, I'm long overdue for some good countermeasures.
