    Default Constant X band falsing.

A co-worker of mine has a V1 (1.8 non-POP) that falsed constantly on X band during a recent trip to Ohio, even when not driving on the interstate. The roads driven were I-75 N. of Dayton and US 224. When he got back to Indiana, the falsing stopped.

That sounds abnormal to me since it was constant. Any ideas? Has anyone else had the same problem?

I recommended that he upgrade to POP2 (and hopefully 3.851). If he does that we will swap V1s and the testing will begin! I'll swap RDs with my dad who has 1.7, then give him the 985, then I'll have a 3.826 and 3.851 to compare with.

    from the v1 manual:

    problem: numerous false alerts.

cause: other superheterodyne radar dtecetors mounted in the same
    vehicle.

solution: do not operate v1 in close proximity to other detcetors.

problem: false x band alert from rear either continuous or random intervals.

    cause: cell phone interference.

solution: relocate v1, change modes to advanced-logic (L).

    change cell phone provider.

other things which may cause this are radar sensors used in factory alarms and premeter security fences!

lets not forget that the v1 has picked up x band from nearly 10 miles,
so its not supprising if you get odd little chirps which keep coming and going!

was the alert from the front or rear or both, did it ever go from front to side to rear?

was there more than 1 bogey? this may indicate that it may have been an alarm set up..

This almost sounds like it. But the false alerts disappeared once he got back into Indiana.

The alert did go from front to side to rear several times. But sometimes it was just from the rear. Bogey counter I'm not sure of. It happened basically all the time he was driving in Ohio. But it was worse near exits on the interstate.

Maybe Ohio just decided to put drones everywhere! Wouldn't put it past them.
