I bought a new V1 about 3-4 months ago, well the other night I drove by a K band drone that tells how fast your going..It always gives a alert from a distance, but it didn't this time until I got past the sign and it went to full strength..So, I went back again just to see if it was a fluke but it happened again...I have also noticed that when I pass some police with radar, the same thing happens..(Not instant-on)...I called Tech support and the guy told me to send it in and they will check/fix the problem, but it makes me think that i should have stuck with my Bel...Paying that kind of money for a radar detector just for it to mess up in a couple of months kinda pisses me off...

Escorts and Bels have been failing for many years and the V1 has been the king of quality until recently but I am sure they will rectify the situation. I have more faith in Valentine Research than I do in Belscort.

I would never base any sort of performance off of speed signs. they have a tendency with temperature changes to fall out of calibration. the V1 will not alert to something that it does not recognize. however if your gut feeling tells you something is up on the real world instances then I'd send it in.

maybe you can swap detectors and see if the bel alerts to K band before sending it in for repairs

there is a sign being used for construction that has been setting off my K band at about .8 miles, its a tiny bit hilly and pretty striaght, its not great range by any means but it will get me by

:roll: I'm saying that it isn't detecting certain freq. of K...I did take my RX65 out to see and it picks it up every time I come up on it, but the V1 is crapping out..I understand there are V1 fan boys all over this forum, but I really don't think the quality is any better if not worse than Belscorts...I mean, look all over the V1 postings and you will see a lot of problems arising...I may just sell it when I get it back and use my RX65...It hasn't failed me yet.

For example..I found that with my 985 if I turn it on well I am under radar attack...it ignores the signal until its just about full 9. Perhaps there was a new (old) cobra (used to be made by excort years ago-goodies back then) in the area and causing interference. I would bet the K sign is out of cal...I have a sign like that here and it seems to always be messing up...not on, or giving a speed thats way way off. Cheers.

It's not just the Radar sign..It's real threats as well...I've done some searching and it seems that I'm not the only person that has encountered these problems with the V1...
