Default So I got my money back

Sorry to say this but I returned my V1 and chose to keep a RX65pro. The V1 caused to many falses. I didn't appreciate find cheap radardetecros on the interstate. I felt the V1 is great radar detecting gadget for someone who is interested in the field, but if you want to avoid speeding tickets then the rx65 is much more friendly in my opinion. On a 230mi trip the rx65 alerted to one laser trap and one Ka which was really really far away. Throughout the trip it hadn't made any other alerts. This is what I was looking for, a quiet detector that has good range.

Also the V1 is not worth the $400. There simply isn't a $100 differance between the V1 and Rx65.

These are just my personal oppinions, so don't take them offensivly if you have strong feelings towards the V1.

    personal opinion respected

you cant go wrong with any of the top 3 or 4

its crazy, i want another detector just for fun, toss up between the X50 and RX 65

i know i can just buy a laser jammer but i dont get hit with laser as much

ahh well, its a cheap hobby... as oppose to making my car faster with performance parts and what not

Welcome to the Forum...I got rid of my V1 and kept my RX65 as well. Simply because of Ka performance.

Hey buddy no problem...When I bought mine every V1 user swore it was the best thing since sliced bread so I just had to get one...Of course I had my RX65 for about 7 months. I realized I made a mistake and the RX65 is still in my truck going strong.

Let me know how you like the RX65 please

the $100 difference is the metal case and arrows!

although vr's competition is that far behind, but its down to personal tastes.

plus every encounter is different, the only downside to a v1 is theses new problems, and if i was living in the us and sending it to vr is simple they i really wouldnt be bothered..

living outside the states well thats another thing, and living in the uk is most definetly another!

Dont forget the excellent LASER detection. But its not a deciding factor for me since i have my blinder.

actually, i would say vr's "competition" is ahead in several aspects.

i can deal without the metal case.

and the only reason arrows are need is because of the rear antenna, which is just a marketing tool. i can deal without them to.

if a RD only has a front antenna, i don't need arrows telling me the threat is in front of me.

and i don't need a rear antenna because i'm not worried about threats from the rear that are incredibly rare.

The rear antenna on the V1 is hardly a marketing tool.

These recent "I hate the V-1" threads just amaze me.

Did you people not do any research at all before choosing your detector?
Get the features you want & need. Was this a case of "I gotta have this, my buddy's cousins girlfriends dad says they are the best"

the top three units are too close to call for naming any of them as "king of the hill"

For me, I could care less if a unit tells me (approximately) what frequency the radar gun w transmitting.

    QUOTE;
if you guys want or need all that information, more power to ya.
if a RD only has a front antenna, i don't need arrows telling me the threat is in front of me.

That makes no sense at all. any detector will alert to radar from any direction at any time if the signal is recieved by the antenna.

Do the research from all sources you can find, and choose the detector that best suits your personal & unique needs. No need to apologize for returning a detector that didn't fit your needs, and praise a unit that you have never even tried yet!

And everyone is whining about KA detection range, and the phrase; "Is better at looking over hills and around corners" !! WTF!?

Radio transmission recievers do not "LOOK" for anything, they recieve a signal that is broadcasted. If the signal reaches the antenna, you'll know about it.
They cannot alter physics, Isn't KA a real Pain to detect in the first place? I understood that it was a very weak signal to begin with, and it is only available in recent offerings from radar makers. Maybe some people are confusing instant-on with late alerts.

As soon as any manufacturer makes a "Cop Detector" that works consistently, I will be very near the front of the line to purchase.
