They are both good....V! laser is the best yeah but chances of you getting a deflect off another car is slim to none still...So laser wont help ya that much.

Many of the detectors will suit your needs very much. Many of the v1 users that have been a v1 users are voicing their opinions and problems - which is great for the rest of us because we can than look out for those possible problems and know if ours might also have an issue.

But you could also start a thread about:

Do you love your v1, and tell a good story about it - and why you still have it?

You will get alot of your responses. The v1 rapid firmwares greatly dissapoint me too, the E scares me a bit as I have the 3.851, but I love my v1 and it actually just saved me again tonight - but thats another story.

Remember, although there is problems - I'm sure there are probably just as many - if not more that are completely satisfied with their v1.

As I said - It might not be the Best detector for you - but I still recommend the v1 to any user. Atleast give it a try - the worst you are out is shipping - 12 dollars - woo hoo. Name me another company that will do that. (yeah I know the x50 you can go to best buy and buy it and have 14 days, but they take 15 % if there is nothing wrong - and require a exchange if something is - so that don't count)

But yeah - v1 rocks - I'm sure the x50, sti or rx65 will suit you well.

P.S. - I am not interested in buying a X50, so please don't bring it up... thanks.
I applaud you for doing the research!! (it took me 4 months to decide on the V-1, and I am very pleased!)

Some people have had an "E" message directly after the switch to the digital module.
Just get the thing already, you have already decided. And after months of research there is no changing your mind ( been there )
If your nit has a problem (Doubtful) send it back for a full refund if in 30 days, or take advantage of the 1-year warranty. you really can't go wrong. Just please buy it through the proper place. or you might get denied service. (another way v-1 tries to protect it's customers)

I decided on the V-1 because 99% of my driving is deserted state highways in the middle of Wisconsins northwoods! And it absolutley rocks, Many saves to date, I even had an alert to a KA-band, Instant-on, leo that lit a vehicle about a mile or more in front of me, (i could barely see the truck on a straight flat road) and I got 5 dots for about a second, That was all I needed to tap the brakes to disengage the cruise control, slid by the cop a minute or so later smiling and waving doing 55 on the nut! (GPS Speed) with the V-1 barking at full strength when he lit me up.

the nicest part about it is that I know what direction to expect the leo to be when I get an alert. No guessing at all. And anyone that tells you that the arrows are just a gimmick, has never used a v-1 in the open country.

Very nicely said. I purchased the V1 3.826 after reading and haveing people give me advise. All 3 were good but most people stated it really depended on my driving. X50 good for this, RX65 better in this and V1 best at this. Since most if not all my use was driving like your - major open roads from CALI to AZ (about 300 miles) I went with the V1. Most board members said it was best for open road and the arrow were a plus.

So that's what I ended up buying and have had no problems. I use it like I was told, "it is a tool" to help you stay out of trouble.

knowing v1 and by reading about escort

Escort is coming out with a new detector soon (spring)

so, V1 is either telling people to upgrade to get more money to produce another V1/Updated model

or, trying to get rid of current models

Probably neither of the above... And I don't own a V1.

One very simply reason: VR can easily upgrade existing units in their inventory (at least in software). Any "updates" likely to be software. Another model for them is mostly internals. They don't put different plastic blow molds around their internals and sell different brands/grades of the same unit...

But, I do look forward to seeing what new model Escort/Beltronics = Belscort will come up with in the spring... For now, my Bel 945 is adequate, but my next purchase will be a V1. Based entirely on researching these forums... And by spring, VR will prolly have the switch to digital from analog nailed

    Just MHO

Does anyone remember the Osborne1? A company announcing a new product 8 months before its availability can destroy itself because prospective customers will delay purchase of a non-essential product until the new model arrives.

Mr. Smith, please explain your reasoning behind

"so, V1 is either telling people to upgrade to get more money to produce another V1/Updated model

or, trying to get rid of current models"

    and Escort's vaporware. I don't understand.

When a company is coming out with a new model they want to get rid of current products.... why get stuck with extra supply?

V1 is a strict company as you can only get detectors from them....

    So, from MY OPINION,

I believe that they are trying to make a newer product (could be the reason behind the failures/"you guys are testers").

    Never really know

For all of the people that had older version (3.836) we were told by VR NOT TO upgrade......

WIth all these version changes due to updated parts they are saying we do not need to update----Yet

Im thinking VR is getting the V1 primed up for a major upgrade myself
