V1 remote display

I'm thinking about getting a V1 and how I would hide the detector. I have a few questions. First, can you unplug the power lead from the back of the detector (make it easy to remove if you hard wire it). Second, how does the remote display work? Does it have to be on the same power lead as the main unit? How long are the wires (how far apart can the remote display be from the main unit)?

The power lead is just a telephone jack. You can plug and unplug it easily if you hard-wire it. The remote display is an exact copy of the display on the V1. You attach it by plugging it into a second port on the power supply (same deal for both cig lighter and hard-wire.) When you plug it in the main unit goes dark and the remote display comes alive. It's great if you want to moung the V1 up high. People behind you don't see any blinking red lights, and you have an easily-readable display wherever you want it.

Everything is done with RJ11 telephone connectors and comes with the unit.
Any length is fine.
