Default V1- Good for this semi-old codger

First, let me say that I’m eagerly awaiting the arrival of my latest order from VR. As I was reviewing my conversation with the saleswoman it occurred to me that what she said might be useful to some. It seems that there is a possibility that those who had other RD’s, like the Escort or Bel's, used the power adapters for those units with their new V1. According to her this could cause the “E” to show up on the display. I’m not an engineer, but this seems possible, considering the units have been designed around its own components.

Now, out of all the conflagration of which RD is the best, the focus has always been on performance, and rightly so. There is however, another consideration, and that is the accessories (if this has been mentioned previously, forgive the repetition). The other two or three are good detectors, but lack the versatility of the V1. This brings me back to my latest order. I ordered the concealed display. I’m an older man, and for some time now have had to wear glasses. I find that I have to keep my eyes on the road more now, then when I didn’t wear glasses. Having a remote display positioned in my field of view will keep me from turning my head to see what the threat is, as well as how close it is. Great advantage for this “semi-old fart.” This may or may not have been part of the original design intent, but it is a practical consideration for those like me.

This is not intended to ignite another fire. There are those that might be looking for a RD, and with all the sometimes-overwhelming information, the accessories are sometimes overlooked.

I agree with you on that the concealed displays help but I would suggest to get Lifespeed to change the colors on it. I did and now you can really see the difference between bands.

    Hmm,

I'm courious what they mean by "older power supplies with new v1's"

How OLD are they talking? I had a 3.826 and a 3.851 - and I didn't change my hardwire kit. I figure that if people upgraded - that they would have sent new power cords back and someone would have said something.

I doubt this is relevant for most people - but its another thought to think about when you get an E.

You'll love the Remote Display :-D

The old power things were sold with the V1.7s and they changed the cords with the rising of v1.8

basically the old concealed display didn't have a mute button on it. Thats the only difference

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it.

On the subject of power supplies, I would like to try and clarify it a bit. The saleswoman was referring to the power adapters that came with the Escort, or the Bel's being used to power the V1's. Sorry for the miscommunication, I've edited my previous post for clarity.
