Default Just got a reply email concerning my email to Mike V.

Check out the bottom of the reply email on "Additional Info". I dont think Mike V. will like that. I went through his own website and sent the email, so how did this Site come into the picture?

Well if you went to the V1 site directly from radardetector.net then your browser will send what is called a Referrer in the headers which can be used on their webserver to save where you came from.

It's a simple call to get the http referrer, store it in the session info and whenever you email them or do something on their website they have which site you came from.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referer

So if you don't want Mike V. that you came from this site, goto something like google first then his site

The only way a referer (should) be sent is if you click a link. In other words, if someone clicks a link to the V1 site that's posted here, the V1 site will see radardetector.net as the referer. But, if you just type the V1 URL or hit it from your favorites, a referer should not be sent. If it is, your browser has a bug.

That's what I'm wondering because I know it only works with links but since it stated the referrer in the email the only way would be either a link on this forum or a bug in his browser when he typed in the url.

I am pretty sure Mike Valentine or someone from Valentine Research reads theses forums. I dont think its a very far stretch to think maybe they saw the thread about the V1 moment and assumed that you are a member here.

I reckon Mike V and the crew really really don't care at all. This site is nothing to what he has built over the years IMHO
