Default Forget Arrows, The Bogey Lock tone makes V1 the best.

In a hypothetical situation where there are 2 cops, one shooting contant on, the other instant on further down the road, then I'd say that the V1 is the only detector that would give you a quick read on the situation.

As I'm coming up the road, the rx65 would alert full strength to the contant on source and ignore the instant on source,

the x50 would show me the constant on on the threat display, and then if I happen to be staring at the screen at the exact millisecond the instant on is shot I might just happen to see the tiny blip of the second source.

On the V1, I would be warned by a bogey lock tone and the bogey number going to two. So there is no chance I'd miss noticing the second cop and his instant on.

Being the only detector with the bogey lock tone to warn you of additional signals, the V1 is the only detector on the market that can really reliably warn you of multiple instant on threats.

and im confident i wouldn't miss it with my rx65, and i'm confident an x50 user wouldn't miss it either. after you pass the leo using constant on, because of the fact that both LACK rear antenna, both will quickly loose the LEO using constant and begin to alert to the instant on source in front of them by ramping up and dropping, ramping up and dropping. i feel just as protected with my rx65.

The point LordHamster was making was about "situational awareness" rather than guessing and wondering where the next threat is or how many threats are out there without staring at the world's smallest ultra-bright matrix display on the X50.

The bogey counter is the least reliable part of the V1. I can't imagine trusting it for anything... but certainly it's a nasty scenario and instant on is bad news.

On a new V1 maybe but on an older 1.7 or a non POP V1 it is dead on!

I could see the X50 finding a new more powerful radar hitting it as it was designed to pick up the biggest threat, the danger is if it is on the same band you might think that it was the same radar source and not a new one.
But I do agree the bogy lock tone is a life saver, I remember running into two signals when I had my original Passport and almost got nailed because I thought I had one false signal, absolutely love that bogy lock tone!

    Default bogeylock

Traveling on a two lane highway with a passing lane in northern Michigan Friday, there is/was a grocery store that ALWAYS gives me an alert. Just a single, one-bogey alert.

Friday...approaching the store...I got the usual k-band alert. I was still doing 65mph. A few seconds later...deet-deet..."2" k-band ahead. I slow to 62mph. In about 20 seconds, a county deputy flies by me...instant-on'ing traffic.

The bogey alert (deet-deet) saved me.

The issue really is situational awareness... maybe the rest of y'all are much better RD users than I, but when I'm using my wife's car I really can't distinguish one or two K band sources unless I'm staring right at the x50.

To clarify my senario (which is similar to a real one I encountered recently).

Imagine a 1 mile stretch of road.

I'm parked at a light at 0 miles

Cop # 1 is at .25 miles down the road shooting constant on.

Cop#2 is at .75 Miles down the road and shoots one or two instant on bursts before I get to cop 1.

If I don't look right at the threat display on the x50 I may never notice cop2. Since he is shooting instant on, once I pass cop 1, I may assume that was it... if I get another KA hit of course I'll slow down again, but if not I may run right into a trap.

On A V1 at least I'd get a second bogey lock tone, which I might ignore due to ghosting etc... but at least it gives me one more indicator of danger...

of course on the other side of that coin, when you pull into a shopping center all the da-deet daaa-deet daaaa-deet will drive you friggin' nuts.

As far as quietness and reading the display I love the rx65 best. I can glance at it and immediately know signal strength and band... in 97% of cases thats more than enough.

I can imagine the V1 having an edge there.

If we could take all the good bits from the various detectors and amalgamate them into one "uber RD"...

Which kind of makes you wonder why, if it's pretty obvious to us, why don't the manufacturers come up with it on their own?

after using it for 2 days i will admit, as a X50 user for the past year, the Bogey lock tone just kills the X50, i love that little feature, and ive only had the V1 for 3 days
