    Default Should VR....

Incorporate a Self-cal/Service-Req (type) message into the V1?

It is a simple question that I want V1 users feedback on... because my V1 is falling out of tune on Ka band... and it really ticks me off finding out the hard-way (last 5 constant-on encounters with KA have been less then .25miles)

I am not talking about the 'E' message I am talking about seperate Self-cal/Service-Req messages like the Belscorts... because we all know the V1 can fall-out of tune without an 'E' message appearing.

Again, this is a poll/topic about if the V1 should have this feature or not, DO NOT BASH either the V1 or the Belscorts... its simply a question on your opinion on if it should have one or not, if you feel the need to make comments that would get this topic locked because of bashing... post elsewhere, or admins please remove such posts.

I will include a poll and you can vote and then type wether you think it should and why/why not.

    Airmoore,

I agree with you in that VR should add this seperate self calibrate/service required aside from an E. Maybe an S for Service Required that is related to the bands being out of tune.

Or maybe add a seperate LED down at the bottom underneath the signal strength that flashes when the V1 needs tuning. This can be quite frustrating when you get very low alert mileages like that (the hard way). I also think VR needs to do some minor improvements to bring the V1 up to date a little bit. Not LCD screens and all that fancy stuff, but stuff like a service required light or letter, maybe little letters for distinguishing between bands. For example a little "X" would glow or flash when an X band alert was detected, and a K for K band and so on. Little things and important things.

But definately a Yes on the service required alert!

    Sincerely,

    Ace_Racer

There should be some type of audio warning, whether if its an oscillator out of tune or something else that would cause an "E!"

I agree that they should, but their display is a bit limited in the sense of not much room to display things of any nature as opposed to the others like the X50 that has a full dot-matrix-ish display, the V1 just has (I have no idea what to call it) a numerical segment board LED thingy, theres a limit to its abilities to display things other than the numbers that it was put there to do in the 1st place

for all we know, that might be part of the "E" messages meaning of late.
They might have added this feature in this latest round of revisions.
And because the display is limited, they may have just chosen the "E" as a catch-all service needed indicator to include this (possible) feature.
I highly doubt MV will ever verify or deny this theory though.
