1.8 to 1.8 + POP upgrade question

I'm sending my V1 off to Valentine tomorrow to upgrade it from 1.8 to 1.8 + pop protection. Do they actually modify the detector I send them or do they just send me a whole new unit as they did when I upgraded from 1.7 to 1.8?

I don't think so. It may be a hardware change for POP.

It will be a hardware and a software upgrade and you will get POP and Euro for $75
The serial number will be changed to indicate its revised capability.
Only 1.7 get changed out to new units.
You can type in your serial number under upgrades to look at your upgrade proposal.
I don't know if you currently get K band ghosting but be prepared for it after the upgrade.

The more I read on this forum, the less I want to shell out the $75 (80 something after shipping) for the latest version. So far as I know the local constabulary don't use POP (though I don't know exactly how to tell), and my V1 seems to work fine (though I'm having hard wiring issues in my 07 Ranger).

I'm glad I found this board.
