Default V1 breaks!! 3.854 Rev...had for lesss than 6 months..!

V1 breaks in less than 6 months! GUess I am going to have to send into Valentine Research in good ole West Chester Ohio! I think i finally received the imfamous E while driving down to nmamembers place... I am going to be gettin this on minidv before i send into v1 for sure tho just to finally debunk the imfamous E mistery for all of those non beleivers! And just incase Mike Valentine thinks he going to call me full of crap!..I just hope i don't have to pay the $75.00 fee to get the unit fixed because if so i am going to be severly upset this will be the second v1 ive been through in a year and in all 4 top end units i have had to send back into the manufacturer to be replaced or fixed!

Look at the bright side, now you'll be able to get 3.858! This should be a warranty repair for you BTW. Definitely get a picture of the "E" if you can.

    Default that's too bad

Alpine, that's too bad to hear about your V1. Hope VR can fix it and give you the 3.858 software.

Just be thankful that the V1 is actually upgradeable and probably will be fixed at no cost unlike the competition.

Dude, don't complain - stuff happens. It is unexplainable. Just do what NMA tells you to do and get them to give you a prepaid envelope. Use one of your other detectors for the next week and than be happy when they have just taken care of everything at absolutely no cost to you.

What is so great about that? There are no performance increases in any of the 3.85x versions. The later ones were done to try and fix the E problem, and there are still people who have 3.858 that have received the E error.

With you on that one. Take a picture of it so VR can't say you made it up.

    Default no

No bauzer, you have to get VR's account # in order to send it back to them. No big deal though. I can see alpine being upset and having to send his V1 back in. At least he's smart and has a backup unit to use while the V1 is away. Now that's smart!

Mike V said it himself after all the E errors were happening:

Parts supplied by our vendors = new digital temperature compensation hardware

Fine tuning = getting the new hardware to work without getting E errors

Valentine Research has said many times in email and phone conversations that the 3.85x versions have no improved performance over 3.826 - and that it would be a waste of time to "upgrade".
