"Versus." Not the lines of a poem.

And hey, I thought those two were in the process of merging!

    What debate?

    You got free updates?
    You got SWS?
    You got Auto-Mute?
    You got an earphone jack?
    You got GPS lock-out?
    You got better filtering?
    You got 21st century technology?
    You got the "talking lady?"
    You got text display?

Sorry, you ain't got nothin' - debate wise - other than your need for Advil, earplugs, lots of spent brake pad$, and a hankerin' to hold on to antiquated junk.

As I mentioned, you asked the wrong question. You need to wake M.V. and tell him it is the 21st century.

Okay. You like falsies too.

    Drat!

Looks like I may have to tolerate Howard Stern...again.

Not that I'd miss Oprah. Oh, and I got that "versus" thing too (my bad engrish!)

Jazzy started this one... there was no need to start bashing Belscorts in this thread. He brought this on.

Even simple change such as LED's that can make visual band ID easier with no need of a patent was never put into minor improvements. I think they have to group together and do some changes. I remember calling VR about wanting to know if they will change their LED alert colors and the lady who answered it was very adamant that they won't change it. Hopefully it will ring the bell and they will make the V2 much better and we the customers will benefit from competition.

    You got free updates?

    Yes, I do.

    10/14/04
    Started with a V1.8 POP1 3.817 firmware cost me $399+S/H.

    5/27/05
Upgraded to V1.8 POP2 3.824 Euro firmware and hardware cost me $0.

    7/25/06
    Upgraded to V1.8 POP2 3.826 cost me $0.

    Total cost of upgrades $0.

    You got SWS?

Only fools need it. Here is a quote from the Guysoflidar, "Unfortunately, use of the system is not very widespread. The best evidence is that some 200 transmitters are in use in 33 states." That means there could be up to 6 transmitters per state in 66% of the U.S. [replacer_img] Better yet, there are zero SWS transmitters in 34% of the U.S.

    You got Auto-Mute?

Yes, I have X band disabled as most people do and K band automatic muting set up on my V1 so that I get no alerts on K band unless it is really a threat.

    You got an earphone jack?

I drive a car and could care less about an earphone jack.

    You got GPS lock-out?

No, Uniden did GPS already and they don't make detectors anymore. Let's see how well that GPS lock-out works when door openers drift out of tune and a cop's radar drifts into the door opener range. The only reason there are lots of door openers around is that there are lots of people. If there are lots of people, is there a need to really speed and is it safe?

    You got better filtering?

The Valentine One tells me the instant a cop quick pulls a radar trigger while Belscorts "filter" it out. I prefer my information to be raw and untouched by Belscorts "filtering" because I like information, not a silent piece of plastic that looks like a shaver for women.

    You got 21st century technology?

Yes, my V1 is from the 21st century...how is Escort coming along with their plastic to magnesium conversion, one antenna to two antennas to sense direction, 100% laser detection, ramping up of alerts, 100% alerts to quick pulls of the radar gun, etc.

    You got the "talking lady?"

I have a wife and I don't need a stupid lady's voice to tell me what my eyes and ears can understand by peeking at the V1 and listening to the easily identifiable sounds it makes.

    You got text display?

What exactly do I need to read on my radar detector? I know I am being shot with radar or laser, where the cops are and how many, and what band of radar is being used.

    Jazzy:
I agree with everything that you said. These 9500I drones are unbelieveable. They are touting a RD that hasn't even been tested yet. This is truely amazing to me. They have absolutely no idea how the RD will compare with other RD because there have been no tests yet they claim that the 9500I is so good.

The GPS function is a sales gimmick to sell more units. That is all it is. Everyone who is buying one of these units without the benefit of independent tests showing its reliability is just a plain sucker.
