    Default just curious, noob question.....

why hasn't Valentine created a new, or "updated" model? What's holding him/them back? With EVERYTHING getting smaller and faster, I would have expected amore "pleasing" visual unit by now....

VR updates the innards of the V1 all the time. They just retain the same outer appearance.

Maybe someday they could introduce a "V2" with an updated look, but the V1 still sells well, so why bother?

The real question is why doesn't Belscort offer protection from quick pulls of the radar gun like the V1, arrows like the V1, X band as good as the V1, K band as good as the V1, Ku band as good as the V1, rear radar detection (X, K, Ka) as good as the V1, laser detection as good as the V1, upgradeability like the V1, great resale value like the V1, standard direct-wire kit like the V1, standard visor mount like the V1, magnesium like the V1 for under $400, smallest and lightest detector like the V1, customer service like the V1, etc.

WHY WON'T BELSCORT STEP UP TO THE PLATE?

    LOL, good points.

I for one, like the look of the V1. While it does miss some features that I would like to have (automute) I can't believe that nobody else has arrows!!!!!!!! I know some of the "other guys" say that the arrows don't work...but they do.

Sorry to inform you, but they already did.

I get a free 9500i update for satellite radio reception interference.

I got free pre-paid UPS shipping via e-mail to return it for the upgrade.

I get free scrolling K-band "Safety Warning System" text messages like "Bridge closed due to weather." You? <tee-hee!>

It is already smaller and lighter than the V1 if I need to buy the additional V1 audio box to get earphone use on the motorcycle. What a load of auxiliary crap and wiring for something that's been built into other units for years. Correction: Make that decades.

Gee, that extra audio box of the V1 is also free since it's already included in the 8500 and 9500 series. Not in a bulky V1 with the audio control box separate. <Gawd. I cannot believe anyone still uses noisy potentiometers and knobs in this century!>

It (i.e. 9500i) falses far, far less - if at all - than the brake pad wearing V1 <bleah!>.

Sorry about the more laser detection diodes of the 9500i as well as filtering than the V1.

Got a direct wire kit on the bike already.

Got a visor mount too (but I don't use it).

Got an earphone free on older 8500 too.

I got Auto-Mute. You got Advil.

I got Auto-Brightness. You got nothing.

I got lighted buttons for night-time use. You got? Again, you got nothing.

I got a nice leather case too.

Heck, I got more programming and text display features than your ever false-alert squawking V1. Just keep slammin' on and wearing out those brakes for nothing you old-tech V1 zombies!

Something about old-tech V1 crap filtering keeps you zombies thinking any band detected first is better. How about a "REAL ALERT!"

Customer Service? Mine's free as well as the postage. You? <giggle>

Granted, right now you do have better resale. However, if the egocentric M.V. ever escapes from his 20th century vacuum-tube technology era and releases a modern V2, your V1 will plummet like a Lead Donkey T*rd.

Keep dreaming you antiquated V1 zombie. May as well toss that old-tech POS V1 onto e-bay before it drops like the LDT (see above).

Btw, it's not Belscort. It's "Radar Laser Experts" per their label. It is the 21st century you know? They've been that name for some years now. Course, you zombies are still buried in 20th century junk.

The better question you should have asked was: "Why won't Mike Valentine step up to the plate?"

...probably 'cause he can't (patent wise).

There is a second coming of Jesus and it is the 9500i.

Why does every post have to turn into mine is better than yours? :?:

    For the same reason as:

    Harley-Davidson versus anything Japanese
    Democrats versus Republicans
    Sirus versus XM Radio
    Pfaff versus Janome sewing machines
    Eureka versus Hoover
    ****es versus Sunnies
    Cobra versus Whislter
    RMR versus Roy
    Our chef versus your chef
    New versus old
    PC versus Mac
    Rollei versus Hassleblad
    HP versus Canon
    Chocolate verses vanilla
    Chevy verses Ford
    Honda versus Toyota
    Indy versus Nascar

Someone sets the bait versus someone that hooks the fish

    You get the picture....

Except for the fact that the 9500i still can't compete with the V1 in the areas I listed so I win the debate.
