Default Can the V1 be programmed to be as quiet as the Belscorts?

Ok fellas, here it is. I'm close to buying a V1 but have heard how chatty the V1 can be. This is just something that I won't be able to live with. I drive mostly Highway (Chicago Dan Ryan) but my city uses a lot of Ka and I want to be able to use the V1 here as well without it being too irritating with the false alarms. I have heard some of the old timers here like Happy@ss and others say that simple programming can be done so the V1 is tolerable in the City and Highway. Is this true? I welcome everyones input on this but would especially like to hear from ES13Raven, Jimbonzz, Sethy, Happy@ss just to name a few. I named ES13Raven first because I know he use to own a RX65 and a X50 so I would greatly welcome your input since you have went over to the dark side (V1) lol. As my signature indicates, I own both the RX65 and the X50 and like both of them. I have to say that I am spoiled by how quiet they are and would like to see if it is possible to get the V1 close to them in that regard. I'm thinking of putting the X50 on EBAY soon to get the V1 but wanted some input first. Thanks everyone in advance for your time.

Yeah just reduce the sensitivity on the V1 and it will not be as chatty as a Belscort  In all seriousness YES the V1 can be programmed to your liking. I would HIGHLY recommend that you first turn OFF POP Option J arrow V and put it on L Advanced Logic Mode.
RIP Duncan my BELOVED black lab son 8/7/99-3/23/11. I will miss you DEARLY.

I have and love my X50. I would get the V1 and do not sell the X50. Try them both and see what you like best. I use my X50 as a bellwether to judge the other detectors I buy and try out.

Gonna keep the RX65 and sell the X50. I like both detectors but the 65 has better Ka than my X50. Wanna give the V1 a try but the false positives make it worthless if is indeed that chatty. Only time will tell.

For what it's worth, my Valentine is noticeably less "chatty" than my last detector, a Bel V995. I have pop on and I leave it in advanced logic mode (big L).

Also, I find the tones of the Valentine much less harsh and annoying than the tones of the Bel.

Thanks for your reply JadeRaven. These are the kinds of posts that I am looking for. Of course I am unfamiliar with what exactly Big L mode Advanced logic mode and so forth actually do to the V1 but I hope I will find a sweet spot to my liking. I know the modes are in regards to filtering but I want to have it as sensitive as possible with the least amount of falses. I know I want my cake and eat it too, but hey, for $400 bucks I don't think it is too much to ask. Please keep the replies coming fellas, and thanks again.

You can start by reading the owners manual at V1/more info but logic modes were only designed to filter X band, although it does quiet K band for about .2 miles.
Logic modes work like a city mode no initial warning at weak radar contact unless you break the threshold, logic (l) still shows LED's at first contact.
Its possible to reprogram V1 to work the same way on K band, makes V1 very quiet.
IMHO ramp up and tone quality is superior to all Belscorts.

I too am considering get a V1. I really like the idea of the lert tones being less annoying. I think that the Kband tone on the RX65 is near death annoying. I am always worried about falses and such since i usauly drive with my mom and sisters in the car and they hate the RD. They think it is annoying.

I just ordered a new V1 On Thursday (for my 4 wheel vehicle, not my bike). Not sure if its coming UPS or Fedex, so im hoping for a Saturday delivery. The Rep at V said they normally dont give out tracking info. But Ive read that they send out V1's to new customers by 2nd day air?
Its going to be a 3.861. Ill post up my experiences with it.
