Default Picking up an Older V1

I'm interested in getting an older v1 since it doesnt have the pop mode which is prone to many false alarms (from my understanding).

I'm also very interested in its ability to pick up laser which has become a major concern of mine.

Where can I get my hands on an older V1. I hear people saying to shy away from ebay and these types of sites.

    Anyone have any advice?

    Thanks

    Phillip

i would say, ebay is your best bet unless by some lucky chance you can find a friend with one and somehow mislead him and tell him the newer units are better. Also since its an older unit the warranty more than likely is way past due, so either way its going to cost you $75 to ever fix it. My advice is look for one on ebay.

in the long run it might be cheaper for you to buy a new refurb for $360. I know you are worried about POP, but from my limited experience I haven't seen many KA falses that haven't been J'ed out. You can always turn the POP off.

A used V1 with a tuneup might cost you the same as a new one with a warranty.

But if you will be more satisfied with pre POP then hit up ebay. You might ask around on car forums as well. Especially if you are a member of any.

    Don't use fleabay.

Get a refurb from VR for 360.

    Turn off Pop.

    You have warranty.

    Free software upgrades.

    Good 2 go.

I thought people always *****ed because you couldnt turn the pop off?

I'm still learning a lot about the v1 features since i've been a bell person. However, the v1 continues to tempt me because it dominates so many different aspects.

Any specific version of a refurb you recommend?

    Which ones are available?

You can turn Pop off on the V1... no problem... you just can't turn off the Ka false gaurd, or else... you will be bombarded with a plethora of BS alerts.

All the refurbs for $360 from VR are the 'latest and greatest', so you would be getting the 3.861 I believe they are up to now.

First off more than likely you will get a 3.861 but may get a 3.858. Also keep in mind, there is a waiting list for these units. I wanted to get one but was told it may be a few weeks/months so i just bought a new one.

    Thanks for the help guys.

After watching so many v1 videos i think its the arrows!! lol

I'm just really starting to become a zombie.

V1 rocks on the laser anyway and that seems to be the hardest thing to detect (thats if you get lucky).

I plan to be contacting v1 shortly about one of these units even if I have to wait.

Anything on those specific models i should be aware of? I already know about the laser falses but thats not that big a deal to me.

Also, whats the advantage of a refurb versus a new model? Besides the obvious price difference.

Don't become a V1 zombie, they are useless mongers who contrubute nothing to the forum, become a V1 user instead.

(Also for your info... you are contacting VR -Valentine Research- about their V1).

The only thing about the 3.861 is it may have a X-band bug, its not 100% certain yet, as it just recently came out... also you may still have the E error which has been present on many of the latest V1's (but it hasn't really been out long enough to be certain of how reliable it is, or any other issues to surface).
