    Default Crazy ish

    Haha.

I was testing my V1 out in my friends car while parked in someones driveway. I got an X alert (We live in NJ they use X all over the place.) It hadn't gone off at all sitting there until all the sudden 1 bogey 1 bar 2 bars 3 bars etc... The strength grew with a forward arrow and I was facing towards a wooden fence. To the left of me about 10 seconds later, a local police car came to the red light and the strength was maxed out, then as he turned the corner it faded away and turned off.

Pretty wild that it picked one out coming down the road from fairly far away not even facing it! I was impressed.

Anyway I've had it for a few days, so I'm new to this but I like how it's behaving so far... My only compliant is the suction cups don't stick to the window for very long.. I guess I try a new set.

    Default xband

xband is one strong beam, that is for sure!!!

(i miss the old x-band days!)

as for the suction cups, rub and dry the windshield with rubbing alcohol...and the cups, too. that works for me.

That does seem to help the most when they won't stick. This is especially helpful if you move the bracket to a different location. A film builds up on the windshield from the plasticizers in your car interior and it gets on the window. It can interfere with the suction cups.

    Another crazy thing:

I was driving home this morning on 78W towards PA from NJ and I started to get an X alert from the front, signal maxed out 1 bogey then as I passed a car which was driving in the right hand lane, the signal pointed to them, then behind me so I figured they had some radar detector in the window but I couldn't see one even when I slowed back down to purposely look into their car for what was causing that.

The signal then changed to a Ka from the rear as I was going about a 1/2 mile ahead of this car and it stayed on full strength for at least 2 minutes.. I couldnt see a co.. I slowed down, sped up, slowed down, sped back up but the signal remained on full Ka until the vehicle turned off the road.

It was some hyundai so I'm sure it wasn't any type of law but what could they possibly been doing inside that car that screwed with my V1 so bad..?

Thanks for the suction cup tips, I'll try them out!

    Default also

Also, if the suction cups won't stick, use just a little bit of either Vaseline or chapstick on the cups and they should adhere to the window.

I believe it because radar beams bounce off everything. Therefore, he may have been shooting perpindicular but the reflections of the beams went parallel to your car so your rd alerted.

One time i was having problems with my bell bracket so i just layed the rd (still powered on) on the passenger seat as i drove home since i was doing the PSL. Anyway, i started getting a legit alert on ka band with the RD not only below the window by 2 or 3 feet but with it pointing toward the passenger side just laying there on the seat.

    I thought it was cool

This may sound a little creepy, but the best thing to do is RUB the suction cups against your nose and get some body oil on them. This is the best solution of all.

    Three possibilities here:

    1. LEO is using a Hyundai. Not likely but possible. They've used minivans for unmarked enforcement so why not a Hyundai?

    2. The all to common Crapra RD. But none of them that I know of cause X band falses.

    3. A Uniden RD. Most likely it is the cause of your strange alert. They are known to cause X band falses, and sometimes very strong ones at that. Fortunately they are out of the RD business so you will see fewer and fewer of these as time goes on.
