Default New V1 vs. Refurb V1????

hey yall, this is my very first post and well its official, I have decided to go with the V1 for my first RD. Now, I just have some questions.

Could yall give me some of the pro's and con's of getting a new V1 compared to getting a refurb V1. Is getting the refurb worth it or should I just fork up the additional 40 bucks and get a brand spankin' new one?

Lastly, what version number is the most recent, updated one? On the valentine1.com website it does not say what version it is, so if I bought the one they have shown, is that going to be the most up to date V1?

    Thanks for your help guys!

I didn't know you could buy refurbished V1s. The way I understood it, when you send your V1 in to get upgraded, it gets saved and sent out to the next guy who sends his in, while you get the upgraded unit from the last guy who sent one in before you. So you only get a refurbished unit by upgrading yours.

Is there some place to buy a refurbished V1 for $360?

Anyway, when I got my refurbished V1 from VR, everything was so perfect, I would never have known it wasn't knew if I had been told it was. Aside from the box, packaging, and accessories being completely new, the unit itself is perfect. Not the slightest scratch or imperfection that you can see with the naked eye. The knob is works great and doesn't feel loose at all. It works great with the windshield bracket and doesn't seem to rattle.

you can call VR and ask for one - they will either say there are none but will ship it that day or the next. 10% off new ones. But will be the latest verison.

Ask for a refurb when you call V1. They will tell you they don't have any and you need to go on the waiting list. It will mostly likely ship in the next day or two regardless of what they tell you.

3.861 is the current version but has an x band ghosting issue and also a j out issue according to some.

I would be curious to know what the DB's are for a "refurbished" unit

Maybe an X/POP issue. Seems irrelevant to me. But I live in Jersey.

I'm very satisfied with my refurb that I ordered by phone. They told me that there is a waiting list and it shipped the next day. I think its worth the $40 bux. You won't notice any difference. Well my clip had a worn tooth but they sent me a new one immediately. Range is great. I'm sure they check the unit before shipping it out, making sure its in tune. These units are the ones that people return after their 30 day trial.

You also get 30 day trial on the refurb so you won't be stuck with it if you don't like it.

Get the refurb and save some dollars.
