    Valentine has already had years of testing of his particular technology and has it basically fine tuned. When his patents run out, sure, other companies may jump on it, but they'd have alot of catching up to do. Do you really think Mike would just say "Heres how it is assembled" and dump his plans to other RD companies?

    Mike also retains customers in the fact that his detectors are upgradable. You don't have to buy a new unit everytime a revision comes out.

    i doubt they have much to catch up. if they are going to do something similar , then they probably already did it. they will start selling it when the patent expires. they wont wait to the patent to expire and then look into research .

    Hilton Hotels = publicly traded company= board of directors = in it for the long term

    CM already proved RD manufacturers (only) have a hard time making it as a publicly traded company. I doubt VR will be publicly traded anytime soon so as a private company - he can do what he wants with it.
