Default What will happen when valentines patents run out

The more time flys the more closer the end dates of the directional patents of the v1 and the antennas become.

What will happend when the patents finaly run out and the other manufacturers rush to get their hands on his technology?

I think some runout in 2010 and others in 2012, so will valentine call it a day in another 5 years time and may decide to quit while he's ahead, because valentine research may turn out like his former company cincinnati microwave? will history repeat itself?

Obviously the biggest feature of the v1 is the 2 antennas and the arrows, and if he did carry on making the v1 his competitors would bring out newer designs with the 2 antennas and arrows, would people buy a v1 or go for the newer designs and possibly better range?

I think people who have stuck with the V1 from the beginning will stay with the V1. There is no point in the valentine research quitting all of a sudden. They'll probably just improve further.

Look at this from a different angle. V1 have almost cleaned up every GOL test.. . . If the detector has two antennas great both ways with arrows! It's not just arrows man it's the whole package. If bell and the others start using arrows, I wonder if they can make them work as well as VR do with there 20 or so years experience. So IMO you would be nuts to go else where.

Indeed it is the total package. VR will be in business for years to come. Only gets better all the time.

IMO the bigger question or concern is what will happend if all the troopers will use only IO or something similar ....

All other radar detectors, other than the V1, become obsolete. :P

v1 will become cheaper as other companies will pay mike royalty for using his dual antenna, arrow tech in their detectors

hopefully he will reduce the price....

all will look like v1 more or less and great for customers to choose from.

To be honest, I'm more worried about what will happen to VR when Mike decides to retire. Will he sell it (maybe to the employees or relatives) or just call it a day, and close. I don't think he even knows the answer to that question yet.
