    Default Got instant KOed =(

Instant KO sucks! I was driving on a road doing 50mph on a 35mph. I was the only car on the road. Anywayz, as soon as I pass some trees to my right, ic an unmarked dodge charger and my V1 goes off. It was instant K and I was nailed. I slow down and ic the cop pull out.

As I keep driving down the road under the speed limit, he nails me again with his instant K. I don't why he did that, but after a red light he pulls me over. I turned off my V1 off.

The cop was pretty nice. I don't think he saw my radar detector. I have the concealed display hooked up to the unit. Anywayz, he comes back and doesn't give me a ticket for speeding but for "not wearing a seatbelt". Of course I was wearing my seatbelt though.

So it turned out a lot better than I expected. I have the k auto mute setting and was driving in the Big L mode. If I was in the A mode do you think it would have alerted me sooner? I don't know if it would have made a difference since I was the only car.

I been driving through this town for years and my detectors have always alerted me to them. They use K, but I never experienced instant on K. I guess they are slowly changing because I never seen them with unmarked cars before either.

Remember everyone! When no one is in front of you, you're the rabbit!

I've always felt that the elaborate schemes employed by some of the users here to quieten the V1 on K band would inevitably lead to it missing the first few low strength flickers of IO K band that may end up being your only warning.

OTOH speeding without a rabbit is certainly asking for trouble.

I agree with the rabbit thing. They recently raised the speed limit to 70, but I still only do 5 over with no rabbit or light traffic. However, in heavier traffic or with a speedy rabbit, I'll do 80.

Speeding without anyone in front of you is trouble.

    i learned my lesson too.
i'm with the Rabbit now ! i was riding the other day back and forth to Denver (40 miles each way) i was just using other vehicles as rabbits the whole way. Wheni saw one i just took a"ride" on him. i saw a faster one.... just switched them..... totally hiding with a bike behind a car or SUV ....
if i'm a lone , i dont go over 5 or 10 and even that for short time.

that almost happened to me once, doing about that speed i think 48 in a 35 i/o around a corner saw him though before he shot me. Leading the pack is never fun  but we all learn through our mistakes. Good thing you didn't get a speeding ticket but a "seat belt ticket".

I would refrain from using big L because it limits your situational awareness and suggest that you use small L.

Yep. I never go my usual interstate speeds if I don't have something covering my ass up ahead.

K band automute will definitely reduce your protection against instant on. That is the price to pay for fewer non police radar alerts. You make your choices and take your chances.

If you had K band automute off, the V1 may have alerted you to the cop targeting someone with I/O a few miles ahead of you. But you will never really know if there was someone that far ahead of you that could have been your rabbit. If he was not targeting anyone ahead of you it wouldn't matter, but you just never know.

I have had V1 alert me to brief bursts of radar 4 miles away. If I had K band automute on, I never would have had those alerts.

actually you all don't fully understand the k band automute feature.

first off if you live in an area where K band is a big threat then you should be running the v1 in A mode or little L mode. a mode would obviously not have k band automute and little L mode would play weak K in MUTE volume and after 4 leds normal volume.

the only way you would be effected would be in big L mode. but why would you be running big L mode in an area with K band threats anyway.

common sense isn't so common
