166 Feet hell.... I should have bought a V1. You'd have to have really bad luck to get caught. Do we ever hear about V1s losing out to Mr Spectre?

On VR's site they say something about "someone posing as a Canadian police officer said he caught a V1".
Mind you - this "166 feet" was only obtained at this year's SML tests. Last year, the "malfunctioning prototype" Spectre III caught the thing at 1860ft, while the Spectre I saw it at 295 2/5 ft and the II at 100ft.
Aside from the 1860 figure, these are all pretty manageable on the motorist's end. Much better than my PNI for sure, which probably rates near 1860 than 186...
166 feet that's like what... 50 1/2 metres!![]()
The question is if Valentine has been able to reduce detection of the V1 down to about 200 feet why can't he make it 100% Stealth.
The officer could get motivated and decide to hide very well like on an overpass or use the unit at night so he or she is not seen until really close. By that point, the lights may already be flashing before you can pull the cord.Originally Posted by SmaartAasSaabr
I wonder how much time they would invest just sitting there? In the world of generating revenue it would be a losing proposition as well as not being much of a deterrent to speeding traffic if they are hidden.
Having said that I wouldnt want to test this theory on the 402 near Sarnia or the 401 out of Windsor.
Perhaps Zegers has a patent on how to do it?Originally Posted by the horn13
At the V1 website they say that V1 is to be mounted on the dash.
Anyone knows how to mount a V1 concealed and that it would work well ????
For concealed installation there are lots of options. Just use Your imagination!!! Even inside the cockpit there are few qood places and the detector will work well. Also V1 concealed display unit helps in this.Originally Posted by Transporteur
This link is for european site where they have made V1 remote.

As remote installation You have to make sure that humidity won´t get into antenna unit.
I'm from Australia and looking at buying a radar/laser detector? Anybody had experience with Roy Zegers's australianradar.com.au modified Valentine 1? I've only seen one review of this device, and it seemed to work - http://www.radarbusters.com/support/...pectre-rdd.asp.
It's pricey - AU$1900, but if it works, then it's worth it, especially since you will now be paying $1200 and 9 points if you get caught with a speed evasion device.
Well I have come to the conclusion that 166 feet is an acceptalbe risk. Plus if we wrap the RD with foil we should increase its "non-detectability"
I am NO GOOD at installing things. But a nice person to be with.
So I am now looking for a partner that would like to install one at the same time than me, or do it with me, or for me
I live in Montreal area. If someone is interested that would be great.
thx
