    Default On some website.....

i found the V1 selling for $500. I emailed the company and asked why they were $100 over the V1 website. The answer was:

"We are a retail company, you can buy directly from the manufacturer. We have to cover our costs."

They really shot themselves in the foot with that reply!

Honestly, why the hell would you buy a V1 from some questionable company when you can get it directly from the source (and much cheaper too)?

Unless you live outside the US, I can't see why.

Pretty soon quality might turn to Belscort half assed quality if V1 didn't prevent most retailers from selling their products.

This reminds me that when I got my x50 the manual was all mangled on some pages. I had to order another one (free) from Escort.

I wanted to reply to his email and ask him if they were brand spanking new and had serial numbers but decided against it.
I said the very same thing about buying direct in my email to that company.
Can retail outlets buy from VR direct?

Think that's expensive! Take a look at this...

    http://www.radardetectors.co.uk/valentine_1.htm

    £529 = $1,080.00

Then read the review, they talk about the UK version, presumably what they "claim" to be selling and the statement that the US version does not pick up all the UK radar bands. They aren't talking about Euro mode either, they were claiming this and pricing the V1 at $1000 + before Euro mode existed.

Note they say discontinued, but you can still buy. I'm sure they'd find you one if you went through the buy process...

I think that some of the ones they sell in New Zealand and Australia are also very steep in price.

Its a scam for these fake v1 dealers to rip off everyone. Its not a bad idea to make a few extra bucks, but hopefully no one buys the $500 detectors in the USA. What I love about the V1 is the price is straight forward with no attitude. Just buy it from the corp office and you will be set.
