Los Angeles V1 owners.

Anyone local can check what is wrong with me V1 ? I bought it used and it never alerted me when any pd cars rolled by, beside, behind, in front of me. I thought it was broken so i send it in for repair. They told me they fixed it and when i got it back, they send me the wrong unit. So i have someone elses unit for 4 days trying to test it out. It worked, this was before finding out that it wasn't mine. Then i called them back saying they have sent me the wrong V1. After all the hassle, i got mine back thinking that it should work, but found out that it still wont hit any pd cars. Only K and X band worked. I called them back and they told me all this story about maybe the cops didnt turn his radar on. i mean hello, shouldnt the V1 supposed to detect cars with complicated radars on a car and alerted us even tho its not a cop.

I might be wrong, that is why im here. maybe you guys can shine some light to a very frustrated V1 users.

Not all cops drive around with radar... You are just running into cops doing something better with their time besides writing tickets.. Go to the speed trap section find one in your area and go to it, or take a good hour drive on the freeway and I am sure you will run into a highway patrol doing radar.

I thought v1 is supposed to catch any sophisticated radar equipment, that includes big rig with their communication stuff. On the freeway its the same thing, CHP and motorcycle cops past me and my V1 does not have sound. i dont know why. i dont think its broken because it catches a speed trap 1 mile away. i will take a video to show you guys this weekend.

Should i sell this one and get a new one instead ? I'm afraid that the new ones will act the same.

Well not all police have there radar on all the time. Most of the time the LEOs near me keep it off or in standby mode where it emits no signal. Also a lot of police cars dont have radar guns at all.
Read around this site there is a lot to learn on here about all this stuff.

LAPD is too busy to be writing tickets especially on a week night or weekend. Trust me, they are not turning it on when they are chasing calls.

Most of the time I drive the LA freeways I don't get too many hits. Mostly falses. When I get out of LA I then get most of my hit from the CHP. I-10, I-15, I-40. Unless a city is setting up a speed trap I haven't seen too many even when it is posted.

Well I don't live in LA but I am close. I would say that about 95% are KA alerts. 5% are laser with about <1% actual CHP laser (only 1 encounter of a real laser encounter)
