Question from Newbie

I'm the proud owner of 2 late model V1's. Recently a LEO pulled me over after we approached and passed each other while my cruise is set at 62mph - NO ALARM. I've just crossed my county line, in my new Toyo Tundra 5.7, where the limit goes from 70 to 60 mph in the middle of BFE. He spins around and lites me up while I'm thinking it must be a no front plate issue - truck is brand new. He takes my license and insurance back to his car with no reason for pulling me over. He comes back with a ticket for 62 in a 50 and my jaw hits the ground. I overlooked the 50 mph limit sign which is .7 mile from my county line, in other words, 70-50 in 7/10 mile - again out in the middle of the woods outside Montgomery, TX.
Being 54 and having been pulled over my fair share, I was shocked when he asked, with a smirk on his face, if my V1 went off to which I said no. He mentioned the fact several times, again with the look of a cat that just swallowed the canary, as if he knew something about his moving radar that was unusual to the extent I couldn't pick it up.

Does anyone have a clue why my V1 was silent????

The post indicated the patrol car was moving so I doubt that.

Perhaps the cop sneakingly had his radar out of frequency so as not to alarm RD users??? Perhaps it was a Hotwheels toy radar gun???

Both POP and laser have to be used in a non moving situation.
I'm thinking POP because V1 almost always goes off to laser, but if so he did it illegally because to write a ticket in POP it has to be followed up by the real blast and again not moving.
Is your POP on?
Possibly vascar.

Get a traffic attorney and find his deception in court.
Hide that RD LEO's give no breaks when they see it, visor mount hides it best.

No not really.

V! Dave response is more feasible, could have been a bad cop irresonsibly using POP the wrong way.

I have the version before POP and we don't have VASCAR in my neck of the woods. I'm leaning towards out of tune V1 now that you've mentioned it.
This was a "perfect storm" day which contributed to my getting a ticket.
First, I was in a brand new Toyota Tundra so my V1 was stuck visibily low on the windshield instead of up hi beside the rear view mirror - hadn't plugged into the wiring of the mirror yet.
Second, had not placed a new 100 CLUB sticker on rear window - 99% of the time LEO's allow club-members to slide and Third, he said he wanted a Truck like mine but got a Dodge Ram instead because he couldn't afford the Tundra. At least I can take Defensive Driving in lieu of paying the ticket.

I would take Defensive Driving Online to get away with the ticket in Texas and not having to risk yourself in court and lose. But don't be speeding too much because you won't get another Defensive Driving Online until next year just for my advice. I am sure you already know anyway.
